Tape is one of the most cost-effective solutions for long-term data storage. It provides a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to disk-based storage, making it ideal for archiving large volumes of data. Cristie has now developed an appliance to archive data from Rubrik, ensuring compliance. By using the Cristie Solution Rubrik to Tape, the integration automates the archival process, making it easier to manage and recover data from tape.
Rubrik has introduced an operating model for data management. It allows for instant, granular predictive searches regardless of the physical location of the document (remote site, data center, or cloud), maintaining control of the data at all times, independent of the source infrastructure. Additionally, replication, disaster recovery, and long-term archiving in the cloud are functionalities native to Rubrik’s Cloud Data Management philosophy.
Rubrik to Tape guarantees native integration through an active archive tape-based platform certified by Rubrik. The Archive Manager active archive software creates SMB shares in front of a tape library using a fast (NVMe) cache to streamline data movement to tape. It offers lasting, secure, and economical protection while ensuring high-performance data write/read to and from the tape as a NAS environment. Writing is immediate and comparable to the performance of traditional disk-based storage systems. Media is typically exported after the tape-out operation is complete, providing the desired air-gapped copy.
How It Works:
1. Setup: Rubrik connects to Cristie Appliance Archive Manager via an SMB connection.
2. Authenticate: Users enter information to allow Rubrik to access and encrypt data archived to QStar.
3. Automate: Rubrik automates archival with rapid, parallel throughput.
4. Reduce Costs: Archiving to local Archive Manager deployments reduces network and ingress costs.
Additional Features:
Cristie provides a Rubrik to tape Solution complete with Archive Manager and customized size of Tape Library.
